Hutchison Ajman International Terminals (HAJT) is a subsidiary of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH).(HPH) is a subsidiary of the multinational conglomerate Hutchison Whampoa Limited (HWL), the world’s leading port investor, developer and operator. The HPH network of port operations comprises 319 berths in 52 ports, spanning 26 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australasia. Over the years, HPH has expanded internationally into other logistics and transportation-related businesses. These include cruise ship terminals, airport, distribution centres, rail services, and ship repair facilities.
In 2013, the HPH port network handled a combined throughput of 78.3 million TEU worldwide.
Under the guidance and supervision of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and His Highness Sheikh Ammar Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, HAJT took over the management of Ajman Port and Customs on 1 January 2012.
Its location in the Arabian Gulf, places HAJT in a unique position to offer services to eastern and western markets, and situates HAJT ideally to be one of the region´s preferred calling destinations.
With the transfer of industry best practices by HPH, HAJT has been improving operational efficiencies and achieving significant cost reduction through effective allocation of resources and introduction of new equipment. Ajman Port is one of the most preferred port-of-call in the region.
