ADNATCO & NGSCO-Abu Dhabi

ADNATCO & NGSCO-Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi National Tanker Co (ADNATCO) was established in 1975 for the transportation of petroleum products. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).

ADNATCO owns and operates a fleet of oil tankers, a molten sulphur carrier and an ethylene carrier. The company is involved in the marine transportation of petroleum products and the bulk transportation of sulphur. Since 2002, it has transported polyethylene produced by ADNOC's petrochemicals subsidiary Borouge from its plant in Ruwais to global markets.

ADNATCO took delivery of 15 new ships in 2010 and 2011, expanding its fleet to a total of 19 ships varying between bulk carriers, chemical and products tankers.

ADNATCO is certified by Lloyd's to the ISM Code (International Safety Management), the ISO 9001 (Quality Standards) and the ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Standards).

In 2009, the company's supporting services were merged with NGSCO under the umbrella of one management. The merger boosted both companies position and created a pool of versatile and experienced manpower in preparation for the expansion stage.

National Gas Shipping Company (NGSCO) was formed in December 1993 to transport liquefied natural gas (LNG) on behalf of Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (ADGAS).

NGSCO operates a fleet of eight LNG carriers, each with capacity for 137,000 m3 of LNG. NGSCO took delivery of its first vessel Al Khaznah in July 1994, followed by a further seven vessels, the last of which was delivered in June 1997. The first four vessels were built in Japan, while the other four vessels were built in Finland. Both the Japanese and Finnish built vessels are of the Moss Rosenberg design and were the largest LNG carriers in the world when built.

The Company's LNG fleet was initially managed by third parties but since the end of 2007 all vessels are fully managed by NGSCO.

In addition to the supply of LNG shipping to ADGAS, NGSCO has a contract of affreightment for the carriage of LPG from Das Island.

NGSCO was the first ADNOC Group company to be certified to the ISO 9001 (Quality Standards), the ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Standards) and is certified by Lloyd's to the ISM Code (International Safety Management).

In 2009, the company's supporting services were merged with ADNATCO under the umbrella of one management. The merger boosted both companies position and created a pool of versatile and experienced manpower in preparation for the expansion stage.
