Intertek Maritime Bureau (IMB) is an internationally recognized independent ship classification society, founded as alternative to traditional Classification societies, by assembling a group of qualified marine experts to create a company dedicated to the safeguarding of life and property at sea, the prevention of marine pollution, providing professionally competent, completely independent and highly efficient third party technical inspection and certification services for marine craft and structures.
These services have also been expanded to cover a range of offshore and industrial projects.

We seek to accomplish and exceed the expectations of the maritime community, including insurance companies, P&I Clubs, maritime administration and Shipowners, by promoting a change of attitude, leading to improve the standards for supervision, construction and maintenance of ships and marine related facilities,and promoting safety of life at sea and pollution prevention.

To meet and surpass the interest and the expectations of our customers, by promoting the safety of life and property and by preventing the pollution of the natural environment, through the development and verification of Rules and technical standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine related activities and the continued improvement of our Quality Management System.
Code of ethics
All activities within the IMB are governed by the adopted Quality Policy and by the Code of Ethics, stipulating the basic principles of operation and conduct of all IMB employees. Both documents are made known to all employees and compliance with their implementation is performed constantly by the Management
According to these documents all information in connection with the performed classification duties are treated as confidential and could be divulged only to parties directly involved in the management or supervision of particular vessels.
Data on surveys performed and corresponding findings is organized and maintained in ship files which could be accessed in accordance with the adopted procedures.
Environmental policy
Intertek Maritime Bureau (IMB) is committed to protecting the environment and controlling the usage of resources in manufacturing and related activities through continuous improvement of environmental protection. To achieve these goals, environmental management programs will comply with relevant environmental legislation rules and regulations- The environmental management systems will define objectives and targets for prevention and reduction of pollution in manufacturing, and related processes to safeguard adverse impact on the environment .
Human resources
Human resources are the most valuable and important resources for IMB, as it is an organization formed purely for the service of the marine and industrial fraternity.
The Corporate Human Resource philosophy of IMB is to ensure the recruiting the best of talent, ensuring their full professional satisfaction and retaining them.
IMB spends a significant portion of its surplus on training of technical resources. The training is in-house and trainees are also sent to external institutes for updates in the latest technologies.
